No Favorites


“For there is no partiality with God.” Romans 2: 10


In wake of the Corona Virus crisis, former President George W. Bush recently said: “Let us remember how small our differences are in the face of this shared threat. In the final analysis we are not partisan combatants. We are human beings, equally vulnerable and equally wonderful in the sight of God. We rise or fall together and we are determined to rise.”


One of the greatest messages of the scriptures is that God doesn’t play favorites. As Paul said in Romans:“For there is no partiality with God.” Paul repeats the same theme in Galatians: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female.”

As fellow Christians and Americans we view this fight against the common enemy together, as we already have in many ways, knowing that God cares for us all and that He shares people’s grief and despair in every state, county, and city. He also shares our joys when we receive good news about anything related to the medical crisis. No matter our conditions, circumstances, or state of mind-- he loves each and every one of us the same.


As Christ unites us in spirit, let us continue to unite as a nation to show what made us great in the first place--- in The Declaration’s words “..that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”


Prayer: Heavenly Father, continue to teach us the power of unity in such a daunting challenge as this. Let us always respect and honor the principles of equality as we unite our hearts and minds to serve our fellow person. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
