The Importance of Looking Ahead

“Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.” Proverbs 4:25

The National Football League in still moving ahead with its draft beginning tomorrow wanted to provide hope for a sports world in need of it, according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. He said: “People look to us (the NFL) for optimism. They look to us for bringing communities together. I think the draft is a great example of that, with restoring hope. It’s hope for our fans. It’s hope for our teams. It’s hope for our players, for these young men who are about to start their careers.... I think we need that focus on the future...”

Looking to the future generally gives us all optimism. In today’s climate, it is important to look ahead to a better day when we can reunite with our families and friends, reconnect with our church families, and return to the routines we cherish so much. As each day passes, we are getting closer to that point. Yours and my memories of what life used to be like only 5-6 weeks ago can serve as an agent for hope when we trust in God that these memories will become true again.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we look to the future with the faith that life will return to normal by trusting in your providential care. In your name we pray. Amen.
