This slideshow requires JavaScript. We arrived Sunday morning to find the church building and grounds blanketed in several inches of snow. Thanks to everyone that assisted in clearing the sidewalks, steps, driveway, and parking area.
Sunday school time for the children began with song practice. The kids were then treated to a ceramic art project, led by Bob and Lorinda S. The kids painted and decorated cross shaped keepsake boxes with lids.
Palm crosses were given to everyone as they entered the sanctuary for the worship service. The Sunday School children and GPS choir members waved palms and joined the adult choir in singing “Hosanna / Blessed is He Who Comes in the Name of Lord” to open the service.
The children’s message, provided by Pam D., included a lesson about Palm Sunday, along with information about donation opportunities for One Great Hour of Sharing. “Fish” collection banks are available for the children and need to be returned to the church collection “pool” by April 5.
Special events for the upcoming week include:
Lenten Lunches – Monday thru Thursday. Lunch served at 12:00 noon, followed by a brief worship service at 12:30 pm.
Maundy Thursday Service will be held at 7:00 pm on March 28.
Good Friday service will be held at First Presbyterian at 12:00 noon, March 29.
Easter Sunday sunrise service will be held at 7:00 am in Wamego City Cemetery. A church-wide breakfast, hosted by the Deacons, will follow in Fellowship all.
