WPW Ladies Spring Tea

The annual Ladies Spring Tea, hosted by the Wamego Presbyterian Women (WPW) group was held Sunday, March 23, at 4:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. Eighteen ladies attended the event, and were asked to bring a favorite quilt (or two!) to share.

Shirley C. provided the welcome, followed by a quilt poem reading by Lynne. Sue conducted a short business meeting. Wish list items, recently submitted by committees, to purchase with Holly Fest funds, were approved. Callie H. shared quilting instructions and explained quilting techniques.

The ladies took turns sharing information about the quilts they had brought and displayed. There was a wide variety of patterns shown, including Batik, Charm Square, Nine Patch, Candy Store, State Flowers, and Addison Star, to name a few. Some quilts were used as comforters, some as wall hangings, and one as a table runner. Several quilts were more than sixty years old and had been passed to several generations within families.

Lynne concluded the program with a second reading from her quilt poem book. Refreshments of sherbet and cookies were served.

The WPW holds quarterly meetings and activities. All women of the church and their guests are welcome to attend.

The next event is a Salad Supper, scheduled for September 7. #gallery-2453-5 { margin: auto; } #gallery-2453-5 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-2453-5 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-2453-5 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
